HAMILTON, Ontario — With profound sadness, the University of Waterloo community, the Canadian Armed Forces, and the city of Hamilton are mourning the tragic passing of Rayan (Ryan) Harb, who died following a fatal multi-vehicle collision on the Lincoln M. Alexander Parkway on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. At just 24 years old, Rayan’s passing has left family, friends, classmates, colleagues, and mentors grieving the loss of an extraordinary young man whose life was marked by service, leadership, and compassion.
Academic Excellence
Rayan was a first-year Management Engineering student at the University of Waterloo, recognized for his intellectual curiosity, determination, and passion for innovation. He also contributed to the Formula Electric Team as a Business Development Specialist, combining technical knowledge with strategic thinking to support engineering excellence.
Military Service
In addition to his academic pursuits, Rayan proudly served as a Marine Technician in the Royal Canadian Navy through the Canadian Armed Forces. His commitment to serving his country reflected the discipline, integrity, and sense of responsibility that defined every aspect of his life.
Community Dedication
Beyond his military service, Rayan dedicated countless hours to mentoring young people as a Children’s Program and Youth Coordinator with the YMCA of Three Rivers. He inspired others through encouragement, leadership, and genuine care, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of many.
